1960 Series 2 Land Rover SOLD

Chassis

This was a brand new Richards chassis renowned as the best in its class. It was painted black to achieve an original appearance. We have a memory stick with many photos from start to finish.

Bulkhead

This received new footwells, pillars and legs. This is now totally sound and good for the next 40 years.

Bodywork

This was resprayed in Bronze green, one of my favourite colours. Looks extremely presentable with the nice aged cappings maintaining its original appearance.

 
On the outside – Recent sand hood in superb condition. Original Series 2 door hinges, a must have in my opinion. Correct Series 2 vent flaps that are screwed on instead of welded. Lovely Series 2 round mirrors mounted to each wing, correct wings of course and period series 2 front radiator panel with the lights in the centre. This is the vintage look that has become only too popular.

What is also worth mentioning is the presence of the original Series 2 lights throughout instead of the plastic copies. I really like all of these original features! 2 brand new expensive galvanised door tops have recently been added so no worries about future rust issues. These are presently not painted but we can do this if so desired.

To the front there is the original style front valance, another important feature to have on a 1960 model. We have mounted the spare wheel on the bonnet. We can put this in the rear on the carrier fasstened to the rear bulkhead if so required.

Underneath – Axels undersealed and chassis painted black, it looks fabulous. Brand new shock absorbers all round. New exhaust present as well as many other new additions when rebuilt last year.

Inside – Where do I start? Packed full of correct original features to include Series 2 round vent knobs, correct Lucas wiper motors, correct wire steering wheel, correct horn and indicator turn switch. Also present is the Smiths heater with new period demisters, a nice feature to have. There are 3 nice seats to the front. To the rear we have just added 2 new bench seats and new seatbelts making this a 7 seater so great to take your mates for a swift pint at your local country pub.

Engine bay – Original engine and gearbox operate without fault. Fitted with a new coil, air hose and other parts the detailing is delightful looking as good as the rest of the vehicle. Has had new electrics, important on a vintage vehicle of this age. Still runs on the dynamo again a must have. Many ancillaries have been reconditioned at rebuild increasing its future reliability . Still present is the original series 2 copper radiator which just adds to the engines well kept yet vintage appearance.
