BALMORAL SERIES 1
1957 LAND ROVER SERIES 1 GALVANISED CHASSIS OWNED BY BALMORAL ESTATE.
AB 4x4s Cleveland have taken delivery of this super special Series 1 88″ Land Rover that has had the original chassis galvanised in 2004.
What makes this a piece of history is that it was owned from new by Balmoral estate where for approximately 30 years it was used primarily for gamekeeping. This will certainly have been used by the royal family which really makes this a special one. It was of course not registered whilst it was at Balmoral until it was gifted to the gamekeeper when he retired.
It was stored in a garage after its service at Balmoral until 2004 when it underwent a galvanised chassis rebuild and registered for the first time. At this particular time the engine was upgraded to a MOD engine. This was the correct 2l petrol and runs really well.
We have documentation from the Heritage trust stating production date. Also Balmoral Estate headed paper documentation stating that the vehicle was most likely bought new before being given to the gamekeeper, nice history to have.
Covered a mere 24,590 miles from new the entire vehicle has such a lovely feel to it having been used regularly by its second owner.
It has all the usual period features still present which is so important on a vehicle such as this.
As this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to own and drive a piece of history with a great story we have opted to keep this vehicle as part of the AB4x4s Cleveland fleet for corporate promotions and events.
Once we have taken it through the workshop for a check over we will get it out and about to get some pictures.
