This time, we will be showcasing a beautiful Land Rover Series 2A soft top that has been brought in to our workshop for a very special reason, and it has already gone under quite the transformation.
The Land Rover, which has already affectionately renamed ‘Effel’ because of the licence plate, was brought in by Bob in a state of total disrepair. The word that we use around here in the North East of England to describe Effel’s condition is ‘knackered’.
However, we never leave a good Land Rover behind. Thanks to our team of experts at AB 4x4 Cleveland, Effel is slowly getting back to her best with a full mechanical restoration and the chassis has been galvanised to prevent future rust problems from occurring.
As we mentioned a little earlier, Bob had purchased the Land Rover Series 2A for a very important reason. He bought Effel for his wife, Julia, who will be shortly be celebrating an important milestone… her 50th birthday! What better present to celebrate that with an original Land Rover?
Throughout Effel’s journey to recovery at AB 4x4s, we have also had the privilege to get to know both Bob and Julia very well, which is another great perk of working in our industry.
Bob has taken to renaming our Anthony to the admittedly much more appropriate ‘Landthony’, and they have both expressed their excitement at taking Effel along with them as they go for days out with one another. Julia has also said that she has never been as excited about anything before!
We have included a gallery of images below of the Land Rover Series 2A soft top going through the various stages of repair, and as you can see, the car has changed from its original colour to the traditional Land Rover green. The project is fast approaching completion, and both Julie & Bob can't wait to truly call Effel theirs!
