Hello again everyone, and welcome back to the new blog section of our website. This time, we will be showcasing the renovation we have been carrying out on this beautiful Land Rover Defender 90 soft top, and as you can see from the pictures, it has seen some dramatic changes.
The Land Rover Defender 90 that first arrived at AB 4x4’s Cleveland was a significantly different off-road vehicle to the one that we see now, in terms of both aesthetics and performance.
The white paint has been replaced with a more traditional “Land Rover” green, and the roof has been expertly removed to make way for a soft top framework, one that replicates the one seen on the Heritage Defender, which has been rolling off the Land Rover production line recently. The picture below shows the Defender 90 after the roof had been removed, but before the framework had been fitted.
The interior will be equipped with a full leather matching trim that compliments the green of the exterior, and it will be finished with an Exmoor matting system.
Powering this impressive 4x4 is the incredibly reliable 200 TDI, which returns an average MPG of around 25, which is exceptional for an off-road vehicle of this size and stature. The gearbox is an LT77, which was first introduced by Land Rover in 1983, ensuring that this contemporary reimagining of a classic Defender 90 has a suitably vintage feel on the road.
The brakes, front prop, bumper, and door cards have been replaced with brand new parts, and the bulkhead is now solid and rust-free after requiring a small amount of attention.
Further to this, both the cappings and mud flap brackets have been re-galvanised, and stainless steel fasteners have been used throughout this project to ensure the longevity of this exquisite Defender 90.
